The IOM, headed by former Provost and Dean of Harvard University's School of Public Health (Dr. Harvey V. Fineberg) and, as you may know, an arm of the National Academy of Sciences, commissioned me to write a white paper, "The Health of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender People: Building a Foundation for Better Understanding", assessing the state of science on the health status of LGBT populations.
