This talk will review the contributions of cognitive science to improving Navy decision making under uncertainty.  The "Well worn path" includes such things as sets of information that are used by experts, how experts gather information for decision making, the use of workflow analysis, and the effects of presentations on performance.   The primary application for this research has been in designing decision support for the submarine commander, but other applications will also be shown.
