ARE YOU READY FOR THAT GREAT ATOMIC POWER? is an exhibition of new work by Troy artist Nathan Meltz chronicling a nuclear holocaust through printmaking, animation, and collage.  A suite of screenprinted editions on paper document the destruction through images of humanoid and animal robots exterminated against a backdrop of cybernetic collapse.  Firestorms and fallout become psychedelic waves of color vibration. Partnering with the prints is the animated short After the Day After, which remakes a section of the 1983 post-nuclear made-for-TV movie The Day After, retelling the story of atomic devastation in a Dada collage-meets-stop-animation style.

Nathan Meltz uses collage, painting, printmaking, and animation to comment on the infiltration of technology into every facet of life, from politics and food, to family and war. Meltz's regional exhibitions include the Woodstock Video Art Festival in Woodstock, NY, the Farm Film Festival in Chatham, NY, the Upstate New York PBS affiliate WMHT series TV/Film, and a solo exhibition at the Thaddeus Kwiat Projects Gallery in Saugerties, NY. Nationally, he has exhibited prints at the First Coast National exhibit at K Space Contemporary, Corpus Christi, TX, where he was awarded the 2-D merit award, and exhibited prints and video work at the 2010 Miami Fountain Art Fair.  In 2011, Meltz exhibited prints, collage, and video at the IN Graafika Festival, Pärnu, Estonia, as well as at the Southern Graphics Council International Challenging Equilibrium exhibit at the Des Lee Gallery in St. Louis, MO. Meltz's work has been featured in the publications Paper Politics, Sociological Images and Printeresting.
