Composer Kyle Gann is well-known as the Village Voice's new-music critic from 1986 to 2005, and is the author of several books covering multiple facets of new-music research including The Music of Conlon Nancarrow, American Music in the 20th Century, and No Such Thing as Silence: John Cage's 4'33", among others. For this talk he will be focusing on his work with microtonality.
