The award-winning filmmaker mixes media and activism to explore key threats to the regional environment, from the “bomb trains” in Albany, to the Kinder Morgan pipeline planned across the state, to the proposal to dump obsolete tank cars in the Adirondacks.

A six-time grantee of the National Geographic Expeditions Council and award-winning writer and filmmaker Jon Bowermaster was recently named one of a dozen Ocean Heroes by the NGS.  Jon's most recent documentary “Dear President Obama, Americans Against Fracking In One Voice” — is a direct appeal to the President, and to all elected officials, to carefully consider the growing evidence proving that hydraulic fracturing for oil and gas is hardly the path to energy independence that many promote. Previously, Dear Governor Cuomo was a unique look at the controversy surrounding fracking in New York State. Some of Jon’s other documentaries are “Antarctica 3D, On the Edge,” ““Sink or Swim, Learning the Crawl in the Maldives,” “After the Spill” and “Paradise Is There,” a collaboration with partner Natalie Merchant. Bowermaster lives in the Hudson Valley.
