A one-day workshop bringing together Rensselaer researchers interested in interdisciplinary collaboration focused on environmental and sustainability problems. Select researchers will present short papers describing their research, with time for discussion.  Presenters will briefly describe the focus and key methods of the discipline in which they work, how their discipline writ large has engaged sustainability issues, their own current and planned projects, and their sense of the need and potential for interdisciplinary collaboration in sustainability studies.  The workshop will be held on the Rensselaer campus, in room 5101 Russell Sage Laboratory.

There also will be a series of lunch meetings to continue discussion and building a base for interdisciplinary research on sustainability at Rensselaer.  Lunch meetings will be at Rensselaer's Terra Café on Wednesdays, 11:30-1.  Dates are listed below.

Mary Simoni, Dean of the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, convened Rensselaer's Interdisciplinary Excellence in Sustainability Studies Task Force.  The aim of the task force is to develop strength and a signature identity for Rensselaer in Sustainability Studies.  The task force has identified potential for interdisciplinary collaboration as a notable strength at Rensselaer, which it will work to cultivate.
