Annual McKinney Contest -- Edward P. Jones, Guest Speaker

Edward P. Jones, the speaker for this year's McKinney ceremony, will present prizes to McKinney winners, read from his work, and respond to questions beginning at 8 p.m. on April 18, 2007, in Darrin Communications Center (DCC 308). After the ceremony, he will sign books.

The McKinney Contest is Rensselaer's writing competition for undergraduate and graduate students. For more information about the contest and for directions to the event, please visit the website listed below.


Edward P. Jones is winner of the 2004 Pulitzer Prize and National Book Critics Circle Award for the novel The Known World. His first book, a collection of short stories entitled Lost in the City, won the Pen/Hemingway Award. A third book, All Aunt Hagar's Children (also a collection of short stories), was published in 2006.
