EMAC is a Bachelor of Science Degree program in Electronic Media, Arts, and Communication jointly offered by the Arts Department, and The Department of Language, Literature and Communication at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The EMAC program integrates aesthetic, creative, and critical thought with expertise in advanced electronic multimedia. The interdisciplinary approach combining arts and communication produces entrepreneurs and critical thinkers who will use technology in innovative ways in commercial, academic and artistic spheres, and the increasingly significant overlap between these realms. Built upon the strong technological infrastructure of Rensselaer, this pioneering program offers students hands-on education in new art and communication technologies as well a theoretical framework to understand and shape the cultural impact of these technologies. A major strength of the program is the balance between individual and collaborative activities facilitated by the interactive multimedia education pioneered by Rensselaer.
