Sharma’s documentaries and writing dissect the complicated intersection of faith and sexuality, confronting the taboo topic of his gay and Muslim identities. Sharma has worked as advocate and activist for the LGBT community: his work gives voice to communities where “the silence was strongest.”

Olshefski’s intimate style emphasizes the beautiful complexity of relationships, and how an American family goes about healing and persevering. The film premiered at the 2017 Sundance Festival.
